Parallel Light: Gráinne Mulvey
This installation is designed for children and adult interaction - each visitor will have the opportunity to interact with fixed musical material creating an individual dimension on each rendering. This will be achieved by the use of theremins - various samples will be triggered depending on an individual’s position and movement within the auditory space. There will be a fixed piece in the background and the samples will be the raw sources of material, whereby any interaction will have a correlation with the fixed piece. There will be various types of lighting - constant and intermittent relating to fixed music and the triggered samples. The relation to the exhibition title “Two Places” is based on the micro and macro level - the micro level being represented by the box in the Limerick venue, where constant samples are performed when a person enters the box and the lighting will be constant.Ormeau Baths Gallery, Belfast will allow for the samples and fixed music to be placed simultaneously in an interactive environment. Lighting will be constant and intermittent.
